Revolutionizing scoliosis care. Empowering young spines.

Spinaflex is the name we have came up with for our flexible and comfortable brace. The name comes from the sum of two words: "Spina" and "Flex" meaning that we help scoliosis patients with a flexible method compared to other braces, offereing comfort and personalization.

Our Design

We prioritise sustainability in our corset design. Parts obtained from recycled materials contribute to a more environmentally friendly treatment process. Both patients and the environment win with our nature-sensitive production approach. Our scoliosis brace stands out due to its unique combination of adjustability, comfort, and smart technology integration. Unlike traditional braces that require frequent replacements, our design adapts to the patient's changing body structure, making it a long-term, cost-effective solution. The use of recycled materials further enhances the product’s sustainability, reducing its environmental footprint while contributing to the growing need for eco-conscious medical devices. The embedded sensors in our brace will continuously track key metrics, providing valuable feedback to both patients and doctors.

Our App

In this project, where we combine technology with treatment, users can follow their treatment progress in detail thanks to the sensors integrated into our corsets. Doctors can offer more effective and personalised treatment recommendations by analysing the data from sensors. Our mobile application, which will manage all this data, encourages users to move and supports the treatment process by offering scoliosis-specific exercise programmes. Data collected from these sensors will be accessible through a user-friendly mobile app, where patients can monitor their progress, set goals, and receive alerts. Doctors can use this information to customize treatment plans with a higher degree of precision, leading to improved outcomes. The app will also include scoliosis-specific exercise programs to promote physical activity, along with motivational content to boost the confidence and mental well-being of children who wear braces.

Expert Feedback

While designing Spinaflex and researching, we reached out to ortopedics, doctors, experts, patients and medical workshops and facilities for more information and feedback. We changed our design sketches many times accordingly. We also secured partnerships through this interactions, sustaining a better communication within the groups.

Why is it Special?

Scoliosis patients suffer so much in their lives. Well now patients, especially children, do not have to suffer from sweating, bruises, uncomfortable braces and ineffective treatments anymore. With our comfortable, mobile-integrated, costumizable and cheap brace, patients can say bye to the hard treatment process. It has sensors to maintain comfort by keeping humidity and pressure under control. The explanation for being costumizable is its seperate pieces that will be combined based on the patient and can be costumized based on the continuation of the phase. The brace is also integrated to a mobile application to collect more data on the treatment process and help patients always have an AI assitant that they can inquire about their brace and condition.
